For more than just cakes Oct 29, 2009 If you're a fan of America's Test Kitchen, you know that not only are these cake pans great, but that they're not just for cakes.
The pans are high quality and easy to clean - soak, wash, rinse, dry. The darker metal makes for more heat capture and browning, which is generally a good thing. The directions do recommend setting your oven 25 degrees lower than you would otherwise, however. So keep that in mind.
As I said, these are not just for cakes. I have made pizzas in them - lowest rack and a good amount of oil makes for crisp, fried crusts. They are useful for rolls and other uses which also benefit from having the 2" sides.
They can be bought cheaper at BB&B if you have a coupon, but otherwise Amazon's price can't be beat if you factor in free shipping and the convenience.
Great multi-use pans. I have two and might get two more.
Terrific Pans! Oct 27, 2009 I love these cake pans. A bit pricey, but well worth it. If cared for properly, they should last forever. I have made an Apple Spice Cake (from Bon Appetit) and a chocolate Devil's Food Cake. Both were evenly cooked and delicious. Because of the superior heat conduction in these pans, I lowered the oven temperature from the recipe 15 degrees. If you love to bake, I highly recommend these pans.
Wonderful Pan - Very Even Cooking Aug 13, 2009 I love these pans (I bought 2) and they work great! I have used them to make cakes as well as deep dish pizzas and everything has tured out well with no sticking or mess. Super easy to clean. I would suggest hand washing and when stacking layer with a paper towel in between to avoid any scratching.

Good Pan Mar 27, 2009 This is a good solid non-stick pan. Only complaint was that it was made in China and I have been very concerned about safety of products made in China.

Chicago Metallic 9-inch round cake pan Feb 18, 2009 A must for any basic baking collection. It's heavyweight, nonstick surface is a breeze to wash and even a blueberry buckle coffeecake came out cleanly. My only caution is that the rolled edge on top has some sharp edges and water will collect under the rim. My remedy is to dry it right side up so water drains down the side of the pan. A minor flaw.
