A Keeper! Oct 30, 2009 Our Toaster Oven from 10 years ago finally gave out recently. It began to have a mind of its own and turned on by itself. Thankfully we were at home at the time. After connecting with many memories and remembering that my mom had given it to us as a holiday gift- I kissed it goodbye.
The search began to find a new machine that would warm up leftovers, toast my morning muffin nicely and wasn't too expensive.
I looked in the local stores for a replacement and then discovered that the first 3 I had selected had terrible reviews. Some created fires others turned on by themselves. My husband and I then discovered a nice one but the electic cord was extremely short and did not reach the outlet. Our search continued. Each toaster oven had two subway rides since we do not use our car much in Manhattan!
I searched longer on line and discovered this one. It had very good reviews. I even called Procter Silex Company to find out how long the cord was. It seemed like a match and it was half the price of some of the others that I had recently purchased. Since it was not available locally- I ordered it through Amazon and it came clear across the country in about a week.
I read the instruction book carefully. It actually says to UN PLUG the Toaster Oven when not in use. After hearing about the other Toaster Ovens that had minds of their own- I now un plug this after I use it. Something that over my 30 years of using an applience I have never done before. Better safe than sorry.
The machine toasts fairly well. It warms well- heats fast and has a slide out crumb tray. The time dial does tick but I am not concerned about it. I am glad to have found this one and glad that there were only minimal red flags in some reviews. I recommend it.
Fast, Cheap, and Perfect Sep 23, 2009 Just like the title says, the toaster arrived on time, was cheap, and works perfectly.
Toast Oven Sep 16, 2009 This oven toaster is ok for the price. Door is hard to handle because it lies flat when open. But it does toast well. Timer is noisey.
Great toaster oven Aug 21, 2009 I bought this because it was a top pick from Consumer Reports. My previous toaster oven caught fire due to its cheap makeup and our electrical outlet. We fixed the outlet, but I didn't want to deal with another toaster oven crapping out for no reason, so I went with this. It is a great toaster. I gave it 4 stars because it's a bit complicated (there are 2 knobs that must be used to bake/toast AT ALL TIMES) and because the wire stand seems a little too close to the top burner, which means some products will get burnt on the top before they're cooked through. But it does cook wonderfully. It heats up SO fast, which means less time waiting to start cooking. While that is a plus, it can also be a negative; it doesn't cool down very quickly and will heat up your entire kitchen (unless your kitchen is pretty big). All-in-all, I'm very happy with it.
READ THE MANUAL BEFORE DOING ANYTHING WITH IT!
not bad for the $ Jun 10, 2009 This toaster over is just the right size. Doesnt take up too much room, but is big enough for most everything. I like that it is just basic, didnt cost too much, and is a decent brand. I also like that it is black and not white. It is not complicated to use either. I love it. Whenever it dies, I will be buying another one exactly like it!!
