tupperware ice cream scoop Jun 13, 2009 Sturdy enough to be a good scooper however after 8 years of use the chrome is flaking off the metal. (Nothing like metal flakes in your ice cream, it's a real hit with the kids...!?!) We do put it in the dishwasher and in this day and age shouldn't they find a way to make everything dishwasher safe? Even though we don't use the heat dry option and let the dishes air dry it just didn't hold up. We bought a Faberware scooper at Walmart for around $6 or $7. At half the price it works well and should be dishwasher safe and last a long time.
Best Scoop Ever Apr 16, 2009 We have had this scoop for seven years (got it as a wedding present) and it is amazing. It truly makes scooping a breaze. I am afraid that we never read the instructions because we have put it in the dishwasher since we got it and it still works and looks like new; however, now that I know not to, I think that we will hand wash it to make sure that we have this scoop as a heirloom for our kids. :)
GREAT SCOOP Apr 06, 2009 Bought this seven years ago... love it. I do put in dishwasher and haven't had any problems. Yet I never use Heated Dry cycle. I also own the Cutco Scooper, and this works just as well.
sheer stupidity Apr 15, 2008 Why would anybody in their right mind make an ice cream scoop that you can't throw in the dishwasher and have to wipe off right away due to the product it was intended to be used for will cause it to pit?
What are they thinking? That is like making a gas can that will melt after you put gas in it! How many thousands and thousands of these have they had to warranty? If they would have made it right the first time, they probably would have saved a lot of money.
Don't waste yours! Buy some other brand!
Buy the new model! May 20, 2007 I bought this exact ice cream scoop a few years ago, and it immediately started pitting real bad. The tupperware lady told me it was nothing to worry about... and I believed her. Just recently, I realized it looked like it had been eaten by acid, (I had followed the washing directions). During a trip to my mom's house, I realized hers was equally as bad, which led me to believe that there is perhaps a material flaw in this model. I called a new tupperware lady, and I got a replacement scoop for my old one. I was very pleased with her customer service, and am more pleased with the new one. I would rate my new one a 5, because it has already outperformed this particular model. I did love this one, for all the reasons others did, (weight, scoopability, shape etc.) but was very concerned, wondering if we were eating the metal that was flaking off... Buy the new one!
